The Four Books 2.5 Years Later, and an Excerpt from Playing the Wagner Tuba

2007 was a busy year for me as I put together four book projects and launched a publishing venture.

WagnerTubaBookCoverSmall The Four Books 2.5 Years Later, and an Excerpt from Playing the Wagner TubaOf the four, the one that has been the best, steady seller is the Wagner tuba book. I know for sure it has been seen on the stages of major orchestras in the United States. I think it covers topic very effectively for the target audience of a good horn player who is confronted with playing the Wagner tuba for the first time, with the complete transposed parts to Bruckner 7 being in particular a big selling point.

Back to the group of books as a whole though, one problem in terms of my early marketing was I did not have a way to easily display excerpts/sample pages from these publications online. However, Bruce recently came to the rescue by pointing me toward Issuu, and through this service sample pages of all four of my initial books are now available for viewing at Issuu.com. If you are interested visit http://issuu.com/hornnotes.

Besides noting that I am working on two new titles I hope to have ready at the end of the summer (more on that another day), the big side note would be on the topic of reviews. There are not many options for print reviews out there. At the time the bad review of the Wagner tuba book stung a bit (as noted in this post, somewhat down in the text) but it did make me take extra time developing my upcoming publications which I am sure has pushed them to an even higher level.

An excerpt is below; from this you can decide for yourself if it looks like it might have lasting value, the marketplace to date seeming to say that it does.
