Last September, I wrote about wood carver Rob Jones; his rendering in wood of a single F Jupiter model French horn was truly impressive.
A new video has surfaced which details the makings of this wooden horn.
In a progression of photos, we see that Mr. Jones actually hollowed out the slides, made valves and also added braces and many other fine details.

Wow. That is incredible. The patience and the skill to make that is just astonishing. I wonder if it plays or not. That would be an interesting sound to say the least.

My guess would be no, it does not play.
But – the fact that he took the time for that kind of detail is to be respected.
Not to mention that the entire piece is probably not too heavy. It would look great mounted on my wall if anyone is interested in a donation.

See this YouTube video … makes one wonder … it sounds terrible but it puts the possibility of the wooden horn making at least a noise into the realm of possibility.

That is one very intense wood carving, I would love to see that horn in person.
