Review/NHR: Chegg.com

For a student in college, one of the most costly, incidental expenses can be textbooks. If enrolled in a music history and theory course, along with a few general humanities or required math or science courses, one could easily spend $500 or more on textbooks alone.

Without a doubt, owning music-related textbooks can have great value beyond college. With myself at least, other textbooks — such as those for Statistics or Math –  ended up getting sold back to the college bookstore at a substantial loss.

A great alternative that my spouse has been using in her Masters studies is renting textbooks. Rather than spending over  $200 for a single book, you can rent it through an online service such as Chegg.com.

Chegg.com carries only the latest editions. They also provide free return shipping. Each shipping box comes with a pre-made return label. Simply stick the label on the box, then drop it off at a UPS store. It is instantly credited to your Chegg account.

Using Chegg.com requires some forethought and planning but it is well worth it.

The savings can be substantial!
