The Growing Horn Blogosphere

An encouraging trend.

In updating my links and blogroll page a few weeks ago, I noticed a promising trend that seems to be emerging. More and more music professionals are getting bitten by the blogging bug and are sharing their experiences and thoughts online.

This is a great thing for the musician community. Never before has such a wealth of information been freely available at one’s fingertips.

In a post last month, Drew McManus in “Show a Little Love” comments:

Sometimes the best things in life really are free and cultural blogs have been one of the more pleasant incarnations of that idiom in recent years. Compared to a few years ago, the quantity, diversity, and creativeness of cultural blogs has exploded but one aspect remains constant throughout most blogs: in order to create worthwhile content, it takes time.

For players of the horn, this has never been more true. The volume of information can range from historical notes, pedagogical and playing advice, to introspective insights into the mental game of performing music on the horn.

This recommended list is limited to bloggers who post at least once-a-month and that are adult players or teachers. Student blogs will be a subject for a blog post tomorrow.

These are in no particular order:

If I missed one, please forgive me and suggest it in the comments section below. I do realize that there are others, but for these purposes I am only including those who blog more than occasionally.
