Feed Readers and Shared Items

In looking for inspiration and materials to blog upon, I subscribe to a number of blogs using a feed reader. For the uninitiated, a feed reader is an aggregate means to read many blogs at once in a single place.

If one were to Google on “feed reader” a variety of results will come up. Feed readers come in many shapes and flavors.

Myself, I prefer a reader that can be accessed anywhere, on any computer. For this reason, I use Google Reader to subscribe to a variety of blogs — including horn-related, general music and web design blogs.

For anyone new to feed readers, I highly recommend Google Reader. It is easy to setup and use — even for the novice.

Google Reader has several extra features that come in handy. One feature that I use gets imported into a page here at Horn Matters.

As I read along in Google Reader, interesting posts from other blogs may be tagged in a variety of ways, one option being “shared.”

That single action is automatically documented in several places at once – on the Shared Reading page and in a dedicated page with a vanity URLhttp://www.google.com/reader/shared/brucehembd.
