New Web Site for Salt River Brass

A Phoenix area institution gets a new web site.

srb site New Web Site for Salt River BrassFounded by its musicians in January 1988, the Salt River Brass has been entertaining audiences in the East Valley of Phoenix for over twenty years.

Since Pat Sheridan and Sam Pilafian have gotten onboard, the band has taken leaps and bounds forward. Next season, they are moving to a larger and newer venue, the state-of-the-art Mesa Arts Center.

The SRB had an old web site in need of updating and when I was asked to help, I was more than happy to do so. I did not fully realize how big the British-style brass band movement was in North America until working on this project.

The new SRB site is rendered in a pure CSS design and includes a content management system — so they can do most of their own updating — a login area for the band members only, and integration of Flickr photostreams and YouTube videos.

Parts of this site project were a bit of a challenge; I learned a lot of new things that I hope to apply to future projects.

Check it out! Look for Arizona State professor Dr. John Ericson in some of the pictures.
