Why the Nickname “Horndog?”

I am not a perv….really! (from the old Horndog Blog)

118316009 ce3c815fc5 m Why the Nickname Horndog? Whenever I mention the name of my blog and website to new people, I am always a bit apprehensive. Back in the day when I bought my domains, I had no idea that “horndog” would evolve into a popular term suggesting “Pervert.”

I get loads of search engine traffic on this word – “horndog,” not “pervert” (!) – and I am guessing that these people aren’t looking for a blog on the French horn or a web development site.

For this reason I have finally broke down and bought some additional domain names. Whenever I substitute teach, telling the little tikes that my web site is “horndoggie.com” is really not a good idea. Especially to the hormone-driven junior high school kids.

I did make that mistake – once. It took some quick thinking and fast talking to the principal to save my neck.

So, why did I pick the term “horndog” to begin with?

It was actually a very innocent choice. I play the horn and work like a dog, hence “horndog.”

So you naughty pervs looking for boobies, please go somewhere else.
