Fanfare for the Common Apple

Show-and-tell fun with a French horn and Flash.

A few years ago, I worked on a web site project for a caramel apple company (which has since gone out of business). As a part of the project, I developed an Adobe Flash Fanfare for the Common Apple animation where I incorporated some of my own horn playing – just for giggles.

The scenario:

A gigantic caramel apple drops from the sky and crushes an innocent, pastoral scene. The client wanted something radical and energetic and so this is what we came up with.

The horn audio samples were recorded using a Yamaha Silent Brass Practice Mute Fanfare for the Common Apple patched directly into my desktop computer and into Sound Forge Fanfare for the Common Apple – a Sony software product. The other music and sound effects incidentally, were either made on a synth – also patched into the computer – or by manipulating royalty-free samples layered into another cool Sony program called ACID Music Studio Fanfare for the Common Apple, or by layering them directly into Flash.
