Quote of the Week–”It takes some effort”

This will be my last “quote of the week” post for 2006, and with it I want to leave you with a comment that stuck with me from juries. A bit of a deep thought.

The jury comment was “it takes some effort.” As I look back on my studies I easily recognize that it was not always the super talented ones that made it in music, it was actually the ones who put focused effort into it that eventually made it. Natural talent, if there even is such a thing, will only take you so far. It takes some effort.

Make now the time that you put good effort into horn playing and whatever else is important to you.
