Play with Character
We are down to only one more day of brass juries at ASU for the fall semester! On the whole things are going well, I am proud of how the studio is doing. Really looking forward to the spring.
The one note to offer anyone out there with a jury left to play or an audition or performance coming up is to play with character. Some juries are very exciting to hear, the players tell a great story with their music. Others are more straight ahead, they play the notes OK, but the performances is not as effective. Part of it is nerves, they take some of the character off the performance. So, again, focus on playing with character, this will help set your playing apart from the pack.
