New Resource on Gumpert

New Resource on GumpertIn 1999 I presented in Paris a session titled “Friedrich Gumpert (1841-1906) and the Performing Technique of the Valved Horn in Late-Nineteenth-Century Germany.” This presentation on one of the most important horn teachers of that century, with many footnotes, is now available in Brass Scholarship in Review: Proceedings of the Historic Brass Society Conference at the Cite de la Musique, Paris, 1999, a new publication by Pendragon Press in collaboration with The Historic Brass Society. This publication took a few years to come out but is well worth the wait and certainly a must have for music libraries and those interested in the history of brass instruments. Highly recommended!

One additional footnote, his name really is spelled Gumpert, not Gumbert.
